Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

Acclaimed author Kresley Cole introduces a sizzling new series with this tale of a fierce werewolf and a bewitching vampire -- unlikely soul mates whose passion will test the boundaries of life and death.

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her . . .

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy . . .

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents -- until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae -- and their notorious dark desires -- ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire . . .

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

Includes an excerpt from Kresley Cole's next romance novel, No Rest for the Wicked.

5 out of 5 stars A Hunger Like No Other (The Immortals After Dark Series, Book 1)   January 2, 2009

In "A Hunger Like No Other", Kresley Cole does a great job of making the reader believe in the story line as well as the characters. She always keeps me on the edge of my seat, and I often stay awake until 2:00 am because I want to find out what's going to happen next. It would be an understatement to say that Kresley Cole is a creative genius. I'm never sad about going into work half asleep because I stayed up all night reading "A Hunger Like No Other".

5 out of 5 stars Sometimes the first really is the best   December 17, 2008

As others have already left long and detailed reviews for this first book of The Immortals After Dark series, A Hunger Like No Other (The Immortals After Dark Series, Book 1), I'll keep my review short and simple and to the point:

I can totally see why this is the favorite of the series.

Like the other heroes in this series, Lachlain makes the story unlike the heroines of other installments, I really liked Emma who was uncomfortable in her sheltered skin but still managed to make Lachlain work for her.

Very enjoyable. If I had any quibble, it was that I didn't get enough of Garreth and Lucia but that's a minor quibble.

5 out of 5 stars Why did I wait so long?   December 11, 2008

This was in my TBR pile for a long time. I guess I didn't pick it up because I need a break in-between vampire/paranormal or they all start to blend together. I am up to date on the Black Dagger Series, the Midnight Series, and even the Lords of the Underworlds series, so after reading a few historicals I picked this up.

What a fun read! I liked the way the romance played out, and even though the heroine claimed to be timid and shy, she really wasn't and the way the book was written showed that. This was first published in 2006, so there are 5 more I need to read, looking forward to them!

A tip though, there is a glossary of terms in the back, that I didn't see until the end. It would have been helpful to see that at the begining as there was a lot of information introduced on the different characters!

Don't let the "cheesey" cover fool you - it's a good read.

3 out of 5 stars Better than TV at least.   December 9, 2008

Ok so the accent that Lachlain has is a bit much, and Emmaline is annoying. This book was ok. It's not as good as JR Ward, no one is though haha. It's better than watching TV though, at least there's some adventure and they finally do get together in the end. I know I didn't spoil it, that's what always happens.

5 out of 5 stars Like No Other? No Doubt.   December 8, 2008

This book has probably replaced Jude Deveraux's masterpiece A Knight in Shining Armor as my favorite romance of all time. Kresley Cole's writing is seamless, the sexual tension builds to a fever pitch, and the love scenes?

Oh-my-gawd.

There is just so much to love in this book (and the whole series for that matter). Complex and loveable characters, a fascinating universe that begs to be explored, sharp and witty humor that employs the most hilarious pop-culture references, and...did I mention the love scenes?

I am thoroughly obsessed with the Immortals After Dark series and can't wait for the next volume.
